About us

From Baltimore, Maryland, Keith Fleming is 21 years old and his primary instrument is the tuba. Keith started playing music at the age of 5 due to a program inspired by El Sistema, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's Orchkids. The program provided Keith with the opportunity to learn a variety of music styles, create music, and teach music. After watching Orchkids as a child, Keith wanted to begin his own program similar to it when he became an adult. In middle school, Keith joined the Tuned In Program of the Peabody Institute. As a result of this program, Keith's ability in all areas of music was enhanced. In high school, Keith studied music at the Baltimore School for the Arts. As Keith entered high school, he developed an interest in teaching. Keith helped lead composition workshops, lead sectionals, and taught lessons when given the opportunity. During the summers, Keith was able to attend many music intensive camps including: Interlochen Summer Arts Academy, YOLA National Festival, Music Innovation and Leadership Academy, Alpine Brass Academy, and Sistema England. All of these camps had a different environment and focused on different teaching styles, giving him a very diverse background. Throughout high school he continued to play, create, and teach music. That led him to attending college at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music. Entering studying Music Education but eventually to Music Professional Studies.

From Baltimore, Maryland, Devron Dennis is 23 years old and has been studying music and playing drums since he was 13 years old. Music has been an interesting portion of his journey since he started. In his elementary school days, he lived in a rough neighborhood located in West Baltimore, MD. In 4th grade, he was introduced to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's Orchkids Program, where he started on trombone. A year later, he transferred out of the school that was hosting the Orchkids Program. 2 years after he departed from the program, he returned to be a percussionist. This time he was more invested and quickly became the best percussionist in the program. Devron went on getting the opportunity to attend many music intensive camps including: Interlochen Summer Arts Academy, YOLA National Festival, Music Innovation and Leadership Academy, and many more. For high school, Devron attended the Baltimore School for the Arts. Devron is now studying Jazz Performance at the Peabody Conservatory.

The Right Direction Project was founded by Keith Fleming and Devron Dennis. The program was created for students that want to elevate their musical talent into a lucrative career field. Students will learn the ability to use their musical skill as a resource not just a hobby.
We also created this program to give students that look like us representation that they can relate to. We want to be the art program that shows the true potential of students that hone their musical abilities.
They decided in the summer of 2021 that it is time for the next generation. to dive into the music education program. Keith and Devron strive to teach the skills they acquired at these camps and skills they believe are needed to be successful in the music world today.

Classes We Offer
At the Right Direction Project, we offer 5 classes: Ensemble, Beat-Making/Music Production, Music Analysis, Financial Literacy, Social Media Monetization, and Leadership Workshops. All of these classes are designed to work on skills such as communication, adaptability, organization, stress management, finance management, creativity, and many more. Learning and enhancing these skills at a young age can help put a musician on a trajectory different from most of their peers. Encouraging students to see the full field of music at a young age.
